It's a Cranky World

I've been neglecting my blog for a while now, but I'm thinking I am going to come back to it now. Facebook only goes so far, and to be honest, I sometimes tire of it. The blog seems like a great way to express things I have on my mind and it's less of a fishbowl than FB. So, here I go again - trying to breathe new life into my blog. Today was an interesting day to say the least. The local P.D. sent some officers to our work location to discuss with us the steps to take should we ever (hopefully not) have an 'active shooter' in our offices. The discussions were sobering to say the least. I admire the police officers who took time to help us prepare (as best we can) for hopefully something that will never happen. Still, if it does, I have faith that they will come to our rescue as quickly as possible and they will do what they have to do to minimize loss of life. It's a crazy world these days. While violence and injury to people has actually dropped statistically, work-place violence has steadily trended upward. According to the officers, 40% of 'shooter' situations occur in the work-place. That's a good reason to have some kind of plan in place for what you will do should such an unfortunate event unfold. I am hopeful that we will never need to use the things the officers shared with us but glad for their watch-care over us and the fact they are daily willing to put their own lives at risk in order to protect our way of life; good men doing a really tough job.
